Ok this title sounds silly but don’t get a surprize when one day one of the display ads say you “Hey Tom !, Will you buy flowers today for your wife ? I read in the newsweek that microsoft is planning on filing a patent or something that it has already files a patent  to drive ads from biometeric technology and open another soruce of pipeline to attract the customers.

The system Microsoft describes in its application would be able to determine the identitiy of someone watching a display and deliver personalized ads to that person. Identification can be from biometric sensors, cameras, or traditional login methods.

So watch out the privacy may be at stake as the big display on the side road might sense your presence there start videos of products you might have purchased last month.

  1. I think it would be an amazing technology, but why would you think advertier might go for it ? wont it create some privacy concerns which i guess microsoft may have to deal with ?

  2. Privacy, Hmmm, its a good queston, but do you known more than 75% of retail stores and websites do track their user visits and many business even do visitor analysis based on their buying habits or surfing to build up data what a buyer/user likes or does not and make their marketting campaign based on that data.

Google analytics is one of popular tool used by many websites which used properly can really show you other side of the world in terms of analysis of the website usage.

In terms of retail store this kind of data is gathered through their own loyalty and membership programs and used for research and improvement of business and make future plans.

It will definately create privacy concerns among a group and i am sure Microsoft will have some kind of explantaion to that.
